Welcome to the Joint Service Sub Aqua Diving Centre homepage. The JSSADC runs sub aqua and associated courses in support of the Joint Services Adventurous Training Scheme. The Centre runs courses in accordance with the British Sub Aqua Club and the Royal Yachting Association training programmes and also offers more specialised courses from other training agencies such as Technical Diving International. These qualifications are accepted throughout the world.
Sub aqua diving courses range from the entry level Ocean Diver Course through to Advanced Instructor. The Centre offers boat handling courses giving both BSAC and RYA qualifications and also provides the opportunity to qualify as VHF Radio Operators to comply with UK legislation. Specialist diving courses include NITROX qualifications and the use of Semi Closed Circuit Rebreather equipment.
JSSADC is based at Fort Bovisand, a Victorian coastal defence fort at the entrance to Plymouth Sound. The local seas provide some of the best diving in the UK with safe water training areas and more challenging sites within easy reach of the Fort. The area is particularly rich in wrecks and opportunities are taken where ever possible to introduce wreck diving on all our courses. The Centre operates a fleet of four 6.5 metre Delta RIBs which are equipped to operate up to 12 miles offshore.
The Centre also provides a base for diving expeditions for military units from across all three Services.
